The team at Alpamare Scarborough, the brand new multi million pound waterpark, which will open on the Yorkshire coast on Thursday 28 July, has been very busy this week hiding five different items of ‘treasure’ from the waterpark in each of the towns of Filey, Scarborough and Whitby.
The challenge the team has set the public is to pick a town to take part in and use the clues provided (below) to find the location where each item is hidden, to be in with a chance of winning a ticket to the UK’s first Alpamare waterpark.
Once treasure hunters have found all five items in their chosen town, they should email treasurehunt@alpamare.co.uk with a description of each item (in the same order as the listed clues) and where it was found. The email must include their name, address, email address and telephone number. There will be five days to find all five treasures, with the competition starting on Wednesday 20 July and closing for entries at midnight on Monday 25 July.
Those that successfully find all the treasures in their chosen town will be placed into a draw with the other successful participants. There is one family ticket and two individual tickets up for grabs in each of the three towns. Winners will be drawn at random by Wednesday 27 July. The winners will be alerted by email and details will also be posted on facebook.com/AlpamareUK and on Twitter @AlpamareUK
The clues for each town, which will also be promoted on the Alpamare Facebook and Twitter accounts, are:
Filey
Location 1
Location 1 is the ‘home of fun’ in Filey. It’s a great place to spend a penny… or two, situated at the landing originally used by a ‘Coble’.
Location 2
Like to camp but need your home comforts? Well location 2 is for you! With stunning cliff top views and close to the beach, you’ll want to return year on year.
Location 3
Relax and unwind at location 3. Enjoy a picnic under the shade of a tree or take to the water and see if you can spot the Alpamare treasure.
Location 4
Overlooking Filey Bay, location 4 is home to some real gems. From music and theatre to arts and crafts – you’ll have lots of reasons to visit.
Location 5
Follow the beautiful sound of bird song to find location number 5 and the final Alpamare treasure. And don’t forget to take some food for Jake and Zac.
Scarborough
Location 1
This place helped put Scarborough on the map with its healing waters. You will find Alpamare treasure 1 at this location.
Location 2
Sit back, relax and enjoy a coffee at location number 2. After all, you’ll probably need it after your excitement on the water chute.
Location 3
This location has won a prestigious award for being one of the best in Europe.
Sing merrily ‘Row row row your boat……..’ as you search for Alpamare treasure 3.
Location 4
This location is also a famous award winner. You’ll love its iconic 1950’s feel. A day out to Scarborough’s South Bay wouldn’t be completed without this tasty treat….yummy!
Location 5
From toys and gifts to clothes and homeware, location 5 has it all under one roof!
Whitby
Location 1
This location will have you seeing stars….Grammy Award winners perform here. If you’re lucky you may spot one while you hunt for Alpamare treasure 1.
Location 2
You won’t have to explore as far as ‘down under’ but you will need to take a trip to Whitby’s award winning attraction to find Alpamare treasure number 2!
Location 3
This location has recently been named Britain’s most romantic ruin. A place of peace and relaxation is where you’ll find Alpamare treasure number 3. But before you get too relaxed the ruins were also inspiration for Bram Stoker – there may be something more creepy hidden in this location!
Location 4
You may start ‘bumping’ into other hunters at location number 4. Don’t make too much of a splash you don’t want to attract the attention of your competition!
Location 5
Location number 5 comes with a stark warning…enter if you dare!!! Frights and excitement greet you as you hunt for the last Alpamare treasure. But don’t linger, only warm blooded humans can win the hunt.
The terms and conditions of entering the treasure hunt are:
1. Only one entry per person. Multiple entries will not be accepted.
2. The competition is being run in Filey, Scarborough and Whitby, with a separate set of clues and locations in each town. You can only enter the competition once, so you must choose which town to take part in.
3. You must give your full name, address, email address and telephone number with your entry.
4. No entries will be accepted after the closing date of Monday 25 July.
5. If you share any of the answers/locations on social media (public forums) you will not be able to enter the competition.
6. Family ticket is valid for two adults and two children or one adult and three children.
