Ambitious growth plans for plastic injection moulding firm

A Tyne and Wear plastic injection moulding company is forecasting to reach £1 million turnover in its second year of trading and plans double its workforce while securing work in new sectors, following an investment in quality management support.

B2B Injection Moulding Ltd partnered with Absolute Quality Consultancy & Training to successfully implement ISO 9001:2015 quality standards, which has strengthened the company’s bid to increase capacity and secure work across the medical, electrical, agriculture and building sectors, as well as targeting new sectors.

The privately-owned company, which currently employs 10 staff members, manufactures products ranging from ballcocks and yoke harnesses for cows to bus light fittings and cable coverings at its facility in Throckley.

The standard means that they have been recognised for their commitment to following best practice principles in quality, demonstrating that they continually monitor and manage risks, and that staff clearly understand their roles and the expected quality of their work.

Dawn Flynn, Managing Director, said: “After acquiring the company just last year, we quickly realised that we had to address issues around quality to enhance customer satisfaction and confidence, and ensuring that our management team and workforce were fully onboard was critical.

“Absolute Quality created and implemented systems that brought clarity for us all and the newly streamlined processes means we have regained confidence with our current customers and can now explore further business development opportunities.”

Although B2B Injection Moulding Ltd only set up in July 2019, its early commitment to continuous improvement and high quality will see the continued sustainability of the company as it increases its turnover by 20 percent, reaching one million pounds.

Lora Wilson, consultant at Absolute Quality Consultancy & Training, said: “It’s been a pleasure working with Dawn and the B2B Injection Moulding team to support their efforts to improve their quality system and, excitingly, help them open up opportunities and enhance their reputation as a provider of thermo plastic injection moulded components.”

As well as being accredited to ISO 9001:2015, B2B Injection Moulding are also planning to implement ISO 45001:2018, the occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, alongside ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management.

Dawn continued: “Lora and Helen at Absolute Quality are amazing and have become integral to our team. They don’t just give us a list of things to do, instead they’ve coached and developed the staff, and have always been on hand to help us start this exciting new phase.”
