Screen Shot 2015-11-18 at 14.42.08A SCHOOL nursery re-opens this week after a major revamp – and some colourful characters will be on hand to mark the occasion.

The School Nursery at Archibald Primary was closed for a complete refurbishment at the end of the last school year, re-opening on Wednesday, November 4.

Staff, parents and pupils will gather this week (Thursday, November 19) to celebrate the new facility.

They’ll be joined by Middlesbrough Deputy Mayor Councillor Charlie Rooney who will officially re-open the Nursery and enjoy a slice of Celebration Cake.

Popular Boro mascot Roary the Lion will also be on hand to join in the fun, along with face painters and balloon modellers.

Archibald Primary Headteacher Anita Jefferies said: “Major structural changes have been put in place to ensure we have a Nursery that the school and the whole community can be proud of.

“Staff and Governors were keen for the children and their families to be involved in this week’s official re-opening and we’re looking forward to a day to remember.”

Deputy Mayor Councillor Charlie Rooney said: “Nursery education provides some of the key building blocks in a child’s life, so it’s vital that we provide the best possible facilities.

“I’m pleased to be able to play a part in the relaunch of this terrific facility which will play such an important role in the lives of a great many young people over the years to come.”
