The Tyne and Wear Metro is searching for people who have featured in their noughties television adverts.

The iconic North East brand has been part of people’s lives since 1980 and prides itself on transporting passengers across Tyne and Wear.

Over the last 38 years Metro have ran a range of marketing campaigns including television, outdoor and digital adverts to inspire passenger journeys.

Ahead of their forthcoming new campaign Metro is looking back to celebrate some of its most popular TV ads that starred members of the public.

Do you remember these adverts from over 16 years ago? Mon – Sunderland (2002) and Metro’s Prices campaign (2005) and did you or a friend or family member star in them? As Metro would love to hear from you.

The 2002 Mon – Sunderland television advert was created to celebrate the £100 million project that took the Metro system to Sunderland following the opening of the line between Pelaw and South Hylton.

The 2005 Price campaign highlighted the system’s low cost fares encouraging passengers to make the most of Metro’s cost effective tickets and explore the region for less.

Chris Carson, Metro Services Director, said: “We’re encouraging our passengers as well as their friends and family across Tyne and Wear to get in touch if they are one of our noughties television advert stars. We would love the opportunity to thank them for supporting us and inspiring the region to travel via Metro – as the network conducts over 100,000 journeys a day.

“We are eager for our former television advert stars to share with us their memories of taking part in the campaigns, if it’s something they’re proud of and where they are now. Everyone who has taken part in one of our campaigns has helped to establish Metro as an iconic symbol of our region.”
