Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

203Motorists are advised that part of Dryburn Road, in Durham, will be closed for essential resurfacing work from Sunday (Nov 29).

Durham County Council will be carrying out the work on the Aykley Heads roundabout and along Dryburn Road down to the County Hall roundabout.

Both the Aykley Heads roundabout and the section of Dryburn Road will be closed all day on Sunday (Nov 29), from 7am. They will reopen at 6am on Monday 30 November.

Further closures, to allow work to be completed on Dryburn Road, will be in place over two nights.

These closures will be from 8pm on Monday 30 November until 6am the following morning and from 8pm on Tuesday 1 December until 6am on Wednesday 2 December.

John Reed, head of technical services at Durham County Council, said: “This work is part of our essential maintenance programme, which is aimed at keeping the county’s roads in good condition.

“Drivers will need to use an alternative route while this resurfacing work takes place.

“We appreciate that this is a busy route so we are carrying out this work on a Sunday and overnight, when traffic levels tend to be lower, to try to minimise disruption.”
