Five site managers working for Barratt Developments North East, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, have won top national awards for the quality of the homes they are building.

Darren Watt, Site Manager based at Barratt Homes’ North Gosforth Park development in North Gosforth and Lee Howard, Site Manager based at Barratt Homes’ Bedewell Court development in Hebburn, have both gained official recognition for the excellence with which they run their sites by receiving a Pride in the Job Quality Award. This is the second year that Darren has received the award and the third time for Lee.

Known as the “Oscars of the housebuilding industry”, the Pride in the Job Quality Awards are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry and have been instrumental in driving up standards for over 35 years. They are awarded after the NHBC, the industry’s construction standard setting body, carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the most organised and best quality housing developments across the country.

Darren and Lee join three other site managers in the North East who have also been recognised with this prestigious award. This year, a total of 84 site managers at Barratt Developments have received a Pride in the Job Quality Award, making it the 15th year in a row that Barratt Developments has won more of these respected awards than any other housebuilder.

Thousands of site managers throughout the UK were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety. The site managers will now move forward to the final round of the competition, which will select the best site manager in Britain.

Carl Sobolewski, Managing Director at Barratt Developments North East, commented: “These awards recognise only the very best new-build homes and well-run sites. They are something that customers can look out for as a quality mark knowing that their home has been built to the highest possible standards. To win more of these awards than any other housebuilder for 15 years in a row is a real point of difference and shows how committed we are to building the highest quality homes for our customers.”

This year also marks the 10th consecutive year that Barratt Developments has been awarded 5 stars by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for customer satisfaction, meaning that 90% of its customers would be happy to recommend their home to a friend.
