THE anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be commemorated in Middlesbrough with the annual Parade and Service.
The event will be taking place on Sunday, September 18, 2016. The parade will form at 11.25am at the South African War Memorial in Albert Park, with a march to the cenotaph beginning at 11.30am.
Following the service, the parade will march back through the park gates for the salute to be taken at the War Memorial where the procession will then be dismissed.
The Battle of Britain was the German air force’s attempt to gain air superiority over the RAF from July to September 1940. Their ultimate failure was one of the turning points of World War Two and prevented Germany from invading Britain.
This year marks the 76 th anniversary of the battle.
