BBL – Results: Tuesday 22 March 2016

London Lions extracted revenge for last month’s loss to Surrey Scorchers at The Copperbox by producing a blistering shooting effort and rapid-fire start to complete a one-sided 103-80 triumph in the BBL Championship.

Jumping into an early lead off the back of some devastating floor-shooting, Lions finally posted a 30-point quarter for the first time this season as they stormed into a 32-15 advantage – helped by an unstoppable 15-0 run.

With Alex Owumi and Demond Watt both on fire, they continued their supremacy in the second period and Lions marched into the locker room still firmly in control at 54-37 – even if Tayo Ogedengbe did try to give the visitors some impetus for when the play re-started with a dunk on the half-time buzzer.

However normal service was restored when the third quarter swung into action and Lions continued to dominate and especially in the paint, with Jamal Williams also impressing.

After their recent experience when Scorchers overturned a 21-point deficit on their previous visit, some Lions fans might have been forgiven for still feeling a little nervous about the outcome, even when the local favourites were heading into the last quarter 75-55 to the good.

But there was to be no sense of déjà vu as this time Lions were able to comfortably see the game out and ease their way across the finishing line, helped by some superbly balanced and accurate inside-outside shooting which saw every home player on the scoresheet.
