BBL and WBBL Finals to go live on BBC red button and online

British_Basketball_League_(emblem)In an exciting development for basketball fans right across the UK, next month’s showpiece BBL and WBBL Play-Off Finals are to be shown live on the BBC red button and online via the BBC Sport website.
In what promises to be a spectacular and historic double-bill at The O2 in London on Sunday 08 May, supporters will be able to catch all the action as two pieces of silverware are dished out to the last teams standing – as the BBL and WBBL seasons reach an exciting climax alongside each other for the very first time.
“We are delighted to be able to partner with the BBC to show both Finals live and this coverage should serve to not only promote the event itself, but the sport in general,” stated BBL Commercial Director, Bob Hope
“It promises to be a great day for the basketball community, but hopefully having the BBC coverage will mean we can attract even more new fans to the sport.

“Last year was special because of almost 15,000 people coming to the event which made history in terms of a record attendance and this year we have this new element to look forward to with both the men’s and women’s Play-Off Finals taking place on the same bill.

“This should widen the appeal even further and as a bonus, fans will also be able to watch some celebrities trying out their basketball skills for Hoops Aid 2016.”

The BBL Play-Off Final will tip off at 3.30pm, with Hoops Aid 2016 taking place during half-time and the WBBL Play-Off Final will subsequently tip-off at 6pm.

The games will be shown via the BBC red button and via the BBC Sport website at www.bbc.co.uk/sport.
Fans wishing to attend the event are urged to snap up tickets by going to www.axs.com or calling 08448 244824
