Beacon on Eston Nab to be lit for Queen’s 90th

Redcar_and_Cleveland_Borough_CouncilREDCAR and Cleveland will be taking part in celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday by lighting up the beacon on Eston Nab.

The beacon will be lit as a crown symbol at 8:30pm on Thursday, April 21 and will hopefully be seen from Eston to Redcar, depending on the weather on the evening.

Beacons are being lit throughout the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and the United Kingdom Overseas Territories to mark the occasion.

Cllr Carl Quartermain, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Skills and Leisure at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council said:

“We are delighted to be taking part and are really looking forward to seeing the beacon lit up to honour Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday. We’re hoping the weather stays clear for us so plenty of people will be able to see.

“We are not asking residents to attend the lighting of the beacon, but instead hope that they appreciate the view from their homes or somewhere they can easily see it.”
