Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Bienvenido! As Barburrito comes to intu Metrocentre

Screen Shot 2016-03-30 at 13.01.47A new North East restaurant has Mexican cuisine all wrapped up.

Award-winning burrito bar, Barburrito, is the latest addition to the Qube catering development at intu Metrocentre, Gateshead.

And it is inviting diners to build their own burrito – or wrap – from a menu of traditional Mexican ingredients, all freshly prepared on-site.

They begin with choosing either lime or Mexican rice before opting to add either grilled chicken, pulled pork, shredded beef, steak or vegetables.

They can then add mild or spicy beans, salsas and fresh peppers, onions and mushrooms to the wraps, which can be accompanied with side dishes, such as guacamole, crunchy coleslaw and tortilla chips.

The menu also features Naked Burritos – served in a bowl, without the wrap – tacos, with a choice of filling and nachos; tortilla chips covered in cheese sauce with a choice of filling, onions and peppers, salsa, fresh guacamole and sour cream.

More than 20 jobs have been created with the opening of Barburrito, which seats around 55 diners and is on the upper level close to Debenhams.

The latest in a string of new openings at the Qube, it joins newly-opened burger restaurant Byron, Meditteranean-inspired Est, Parisian-influenced Café Rouge, oriental restaurant Buffet King and Japanese Ikuze.

“We are delighted to welcome Barburrito to the Qube,” said intu Metrocentre marketing manager, Helen Atkinson.

“It is the perfect complement to our wide range of restaurants, which really do offer food inspired from countries across the world.”

Morgan Davies, founder and CEO of Barburrito, said: “We are thrilled to be opening our latest restaurant here in the North East – intu Metrocentre is a fantastic destination and a thriving shopping centre.

“We have proven to be popular in major shopping centres across the UK and provide customers a fast and fresh alternative to traditional restaurants.

“Since we started Barburrito 10 years ago, we have strived to provide high quality food at an affordable price and we look forward to welcoming intu Metrocentre shoppers to our new look Barburrito.”
