The books are the brainchild of business improvement district company Distinct Darlington and contain vouchers to be used against services and purchases from independent stores and high street giants.

The latest issue is now available, free of charge, from outlets across the town centre and contains 28 great deals, from stores such as Moda in Pelle, which is slashing £20 off the cost of purchases over £100.

Other bargains include 20 per cent off full priced products at Austin Reed within House of Fraser and a £5 discount on any watch priced £14.99 or over at The Watch Shop, Clarks Yard.

There are also bargains to be had at the town centre’s food shops and restaurants with Wetherspoon, at Crown Street and Skinnergate offering 20 per cent off food purchases and Café Valente, Post House Wynd, giving customers a 15 per cent discount on all food and drinks ordered between 9am and 11am and 2pm and 4.30pm.

Emelia’s children’s wear shop, Bondgate, is offering a £5 discount to shoppers who spend £30, while voucher holders can enjoy a cut and blow dry for just £25 at Eighteen Hair and Beauty.

The books are produced quarterly by Distinct Darlington and the last edition was the most successful yet – netting the 28 traders who took part more than £55,000.

“They just continue to go from strength to strength,” said Alex Hirst, manager of Distinct Darlington, which was formed to boost business in the town centre through a variety of projects and encourage a clean, safe and welcoming environment to visit.

“And, when you look at the deals and discounts on offer at shops, salons and restaurants across the town, it really isn’t surprising.
