Tharsus Group has been shortlisted for The Manufacturer magazine’s ‘Innovation and Design’ award and will now battle it out with well-known companies including McLaren Automotive for the prestigious accolade.

The collaborative manufacturing specialist is now undergoing a rigorous process that will see judges visit its Blyth-based facility to evaluate its processes and compare their findings to the strict criteria.

Tharsus Group’ has been chosen for its early adoption of the Original Equipment Design and Manufacture (OEDM) outsourcing service model which includes; product design, development and contract manufacture, which will enable it to take the product from initial concept through to scaled production in the shortest possible time.

The winner will be announced at The Manufacturer MX Awards ceremony and Gala Dinner at the Vox in Birmingham on 2 November, which will be attended by manufacturing leaders and the wider industrial community.

Brian Palmer, Chief Executive of Tharsus Group, said: “It’s an honour to be recognised for our commitment to innovative manufacturing, especially by such a well-respected organisation as The Manufacturer.

“The OEDM model, which takes an initial concept through to production, requires a great deal of technical knowledge and our in-house team lead the way in electromechanical engineering.

“We look forward to welcoming the judges from The Manufacturer and showcasing our processes.”

Nick Hussey, CEO of the Hennik Group, organisers of TMMX Awards said: “All the shortlisted companies should be extremely proud that they have been selected against so much strong competition. The entry and shortlisting process is far more rigorous and evidence-based than any other industry awards programme and making it to the finals is a huge achievement.”
