British Basketball News: Third win for Riders, second for Sharks

Leicester Riders managed to continue their short but undefeated streak Sunday whilst B. Braun Sheffield Sharks picked up their second win of the season.

Josh Ward-Hibbert continues to prove himself to be a key asset for the Riders as once again he picked up a double-double (20 points, 13 rebounds), his third this season, one for each Riders game played so far.

He was also backed by an additional 21 points from returning Jamel Anderson, and Riders were able to power ahead of the Mancunians, establishing 24 point lead going into half-time before closing the game 57-96.

The Nix attempted a fourth quarter comeback against the Sharks, and five unanswered points later from Cheshire saw Sheffield’s lead shrink to just one point. But game MVP Mackey McKnight answered back, knocking down a pair of two free throws, followed by a three point jump shot from returning Nick Lewis, and an additional two point layup from McKnight, to see Sharks carry the lead until the final buzzer.
