A NEWCASTLE bar is open for business as usual after being taken over by new owners.
The Bottle Shop Bar and Kitchen at Waterloo Square has recently been bought by St Camillus Leisure Ltd, and although plans are in the pipeline for a rebrand and facelift, it is currently welcoming customers as normal.
The popular city centre bar is set to be re-named the Giraffe Lounge, and will receive a refit and overhaul including changes to the décor, along with the redevelopment of the balcony area which will become part of a new restaurant.
Future plans also include a bigger choice of food and drink, including the introduction of lunch and daytime snacks, an extended evening menu and the launch of a brand new cocktail selection.
Managing director John Heron confirmed that there will be minimum disruption for clients. “We have a lot of big plans for the bar, but at the moment we want to assure customers we are still very much open and it is business as usual,” he said.
“We are keen to get the message out there that although the bar has been taken over, nothing has changed and people can still enjoy everything we have to offer.
“We plan to make the refurbishment as slick and easy as possible when the time comes, and fully intend to make the Giraffe Lounge the most popular bar in Newcastle.
“This is a very exciting time for everyone involved and we are looking forward to starting work on this redevelopment.”
