Calling all Traders – Make a Bee-line for Bedale

The call has gone out for all market traders whether regular, casual or new traders to pitch up and book a free place at a special Yorkshire Day market in Bedale.

Bedale Town Council in partnership with ‘Brand Bedale’ (the emerging traders marketing group) and supported by Hambleton District Council’s Vibrant Market Team, are keen to develop special events in Bedale to encourage both residents and visitors to visit the town and support the local economy.

“Yorkshire Day is a very special day for our county,” said Janet Stevens, owner of Red House and one of the first members of Brand Bedale.

“What better way to celebrate it than with a typical Yorkshire market in a beautiful market town.  We have been holding markets in Bedale since 1251 and thought it a good way to put Bedale on the map and by offering a day of free trading for stall holders we hope it will entice more people to have a stall.”

To book a place at the market on Tuesday 1 August, contact Phil Matthews, the towns Market Superintendent on 07463 720 810 – traders must have public liability insurance and need to bring their own stall or table.

  • Anyone thinking about starting a market stall can get free impartial advice from Phil Matthews, the Market Superintendent on 07463 720 810 or David McKnight from Hambleton District Council’s Business and Economy Team on 07759 284 266.
