Staff and shoppers from Dalton Park Outlet Shopping Destination are throwing their support behind friend and colleague Connor Turnbull as he vies to become the winner of the Durham Tourism Superstar accolade for 2022.
Dubbed as probably the friendliest Security Officer in the UK, the 25-year-old is one of five finalists in this year’s Visit County Durham Tourism Superstar awards.
Voting is now open to the public and Dalton Park is calling for local people and guests to vote for their local hero.
Centre Manager, Richard Kaye, said: “Connor is a huge asset to Dalton Park and has a smile for everyone he meets.
“Security can be an overlooked, challenging and demanding profession – and Connor does his job and so much more.
“As a retail attraction that welcomes over 3.6 million visitors per year, we need a security team that can not only ensure the park is safe and secure, but also keep our visitors coming back time and time again.
“Connor has worked here for five years and was promoted from Cleaner to Security Officer after we realised his passion and flair for excellent customer service.
“Visitors know him by name and he can be seen smiling on patrol across the park, greeting shoppers as he goes.
“Going above and beyond is his speciality and a shining example of this is when he recently supported a couple visiting from Belgium.
“After getting chatting to them in the centre he was more than happy to give them the inside information on where they could park their caravan and, more importantly, where to visit for the best fish and chips before pointing them to the visitor information hub for more inspiration.
“From volunteering for mental health first aid courses to staying through the night if there is an emergency or simply being a listening ear for many of the stores – he is a real asset to County Durham.
“We hope everyone gets behind him and votes for him as their deserving winner!”
Voting closes on Thursday 14th July and the winner will be announced on Wednesday 20th at Visit County Durham’s annual Garden Party.
