Capturing Life in Glendale For Generations To Come

Ad Gefrin announces exciting photo competition to be launched at the Glendale Show.

Wooler’s soon-to-be realised and highly anticipated Ad Gefrin Distillery – www.adgefrindistillery.co.uk today, World Photography Day announces the details of an exciting photo competition to be launched at Glendale Show. This is a call for everyone young and old to get their cameras out and get snapping and capture the people, places and the very essence of this unique area of north Northumberland.

The competition will focus on the best shots and videos that celebrate local life and landscapes in the area and will be used to showcase Glendale to local, national and internationally audiences.

Entitled “A Life in a Day of Glendale,” there are two categories to choose from:

  • “People at work rest and play,”
  • The Landscapes of Glendale.”

Entrants can submit up to three photos and one 20 second video per category. The images or video can be in colour or black and white and can be submitted via the website at www.adgefrindistillery.co.uk/photography .

Commenting on the theme of the competition Chris Ferguson, member of the forward-thinking Ferguson family who are the visionaries for Ad Gefrin, announced:

“We are looking for beautiful photographs that show off the personality and people of Glendale, its strength of community and beautiful setting.  We want to see creative and fun pictures that epitomise the very best of Glendale!

We do have a very clear theme though, all photographs to be entered need to be taken in Glendale itself.”

The judging panel, made up of the Ad Gefrin team and guest professional photographers, will select the winner of each category.  The overall winner will then be voted for by the public using social media. Each category winner will receive £50, and the overall winner will receive a further £100 prize.

The competition officially opens on 1 September 2019 and the deadline for entries will be noon on Friday 20th December 2019 with the winners announced on 1st February 2020.

This competition is launched as Ad Gefrin waits in anticipation for planning permission from Northumberland County Council.

This major development is expected to become an exciting part of the region’s future economy – impacting local, national and international markets – with the Ad Gefrin whisky brand set to capitalise on domestic and export markets and support local trade partnerships.

Ad Gefrin will create a high-quality visitor destination on one of the main Anglo-Scottish arterial routes, re-invigorating a long-lost industry for the area.  Sited at the forefront of an area known as ‘The Gateway to the Cheviots’, the new distillery experience will contribute significantly to the sustainable future of the area. In addition to local employment, and the showcasing of local products, it is projected to stimulate a variety of business opportunities building on the increased number of visitors to the town.

The official launch of the Ad Gefrin photo competition will be at the Glendale Show on bank holiday Monday 26th August, where full terms and conditions will be made available.   These will also be available on the website adgefrindistillery.co.uk/photography.
