Care home residents guests of honour at Darlington restaurant to celebrate festive season

RESIDENTS and staff from Wilton House Care Home in Darlington were invited to the King’s Grill Restaurant for a winter warmer lunch to help get them in the Christmas spirit.

The special guests tucked into a three course meal from the restaurant’s festive menu, which included turkey with all the trimmings and classic Christmas pudding.

Sitting within Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel, general manager Stuart Moss and the restaurant’s team were keen to give something back to the local community, and offer the care home residents an enjoyable experience.

Stuart Moss, said: “As the local care home to our King’s Grill Restaurant, we wanted to invite the residents to join us for a celebratory meal, dining on heart-warming food and being made to feel like very special guests. I think it’s an important message at this time of year in particular to look after our elders as Christmas can be a difficult time for some.

“It was a pleasure to welcome everyone and great to see how much they enjoyed themselves, as did the members of staff who accompanied them, who we were pleased to reward for all of their hard work.”

Emma Hardy, Wilton House Care Home manager, said: “At Wilton House we try to make Christmas a very special time for our residents and were thrilled to be invited by the King’s Grill for a festive lunch. Those who attended had a wonderful time and we’d like to thank the restaurant for going all out with no expenses spared.”
