STOCKTON Borough’s budding authors, journalists, illustrators, publishers and librarians of the future are being encouraged to find out how to achieve their ambitions.
Between 6pm and 8pm on Tuesday 8 March, young people aged 16-25 are invited to Stockton Central Library to hear about careers with words.
There will be an opportunity to speak to professionals from across the arts and literacy sector. Information about relevant higher education courses will also be available.
Among the guest speakers will be local authors, a writer for television, computer games and apps, publishers and librarians.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Norma Wilburn, said: “This free event, which has been organised by the library as part of National Careers Week, will be an excellent opportunity for young people to find out about the realities of the careers they are interested in and learn how best to follow in the footsteps of the guest speakers.”
Every young person who attends will hear from each guest in groups and there will be a question and answer session at the end.
The event is free but places are limited so booking is essential. To register call 01642 526522, email stockton.library@stockton.gov.uk or visit your local library.
