North East-based business telecoms supplier, CCS Mobile, provides comment on Chancellor Philip Hammond’s Autumn Budget announcement that the government will invest £160m in 5G mobile networks.

CCS Managing Director, Chris Lee said: “With the digital tech sector already driving significant growth in the UK economy – not least in the North East which is increasingly recognised as a leading technological hub –  it’s vital that we continue to cement our position as a leader in developing and adopting new technologies. That’s why today’s confirmation from the Chancellor of £160m investment to develop 5G mobile networks and a new £190 million Challenge Fund to support the faster rollout of full-fibre networks is particularly welcome. However, there is still a long way to go. It’s important that we prioritise cross-industry collaboration to ensure we meet the ambitions set out in today’s announcement and address issues such as security and existing connectivity challenges for mobile data.”
