The event – hosted by Middlesbrough Libraries sand Teesside University World Book Night – takes place on Thursday, April 23 from 7pm.

The Sunderland-based authors will present their graphic novel ‘Sally Heathcote: Suffragette’ at Teesside University Library, Southfield Road and all are welcome to attend.

The novel tells the gripping inside story of the campaign for votes for women, following the fortunes of a maid who works for the Pankhurst sisters and gets swept up in the feminist militancy of the era.

Bryan and Mary are two of this year’s Read Regional authors – there are Read Regional displays in all Middlesbrough Libraries.

No booking is required and there will also be a free book for all those attending – while stocks last.

Thursday’s event takes place on the ground floor near the coffee bar with refreshments available from 6.45pm.

There is free parking in the university car park accessed from Woodlands Road and student helpers will be on hand to direct people to the library.
