Celebrities Heading To The North East In Search Of Hidden Treasure

Production teams from BBC One’s Celebrity Antiques Road Trip are heading to the best and premier Auction house in the North East early next month.

Featonby’s Auctioneers & Valuers Established in 1923 will play host to the BBC crew and celebrities, on Monday the 1st July at their Fine Art, Antiques & Collectables Specialist Sale in North Shields.

The travelling show, which first aired back in 2010, sees two experts in antiques and collectables each join forces with a celebrity as they go on the hunt for the country’s hidden treasures.

The winning team is decided at the end of the show depending on how much money they have manage to generate from auctioning off their purchases and peculiar discoveries.

Mark Lane, auctioneer at Featonby’s, puts the appeal of the auction house down to the extensive and diverse range of products on offer, as well as the chance to walk away with a potential money-maker.

He said: “there’s a huge mix of stock and no two weeks lots are ever the same, all are auctioned, so the Celebrity Antique Road Trip teams can potentially make a lot of money”.

“People need to keep bringing in their goods, don’t throw them away, as they might just have that extremely valuable item that’s been overlooked – a lot of our stock is from local people and a lot of people dispose of items not knowing it’s real worth… plus we all know recycling is good for the environment”.

“We obtain a great deal of stock from probate, house clearances, along with company liquidated stock, shops and offices. Which offer rich pickings and in some cases great bargains for our customers”

Celebrity Antiques Road Trip will return to our screens later this year.
