North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Heather O'Driscoll of Waltons Clark Whitehill, Sandra Britten of Hartlepool Hospice, and Caroline Tilly of Tilly Bailey & IrvineAn afternoon tea and fashion event held in aid of Hartlepool and District Hospice has raised around £6,000.

Held at Hartlepool’s Best Western Grand Hotel, and sponsored by Tilly Bailey & Irvine, Law Firm, in association with Waltons Clark Whitehill, the event also featured a drinks reception, boutique shopping and a fashion show, where local choir Mum’s the Word modelled items from Next’s spring and summer range.

The Hartlepool-based choir are no strangers to helping good causes, having sung at countless charity events since they were founded in September 2011.

The money raised goes towards the £1.8 million of donations the hospice needs each year, in order to provide vital services that improve the lives of people affected by life limiting illnesses and the death of loved ones. These services are made even more important by the fact that it is the only hospice that cares for adults in the Hartlepool and East Durham area.

Carolyn Tilly, Partner at Tilly Bailey & Irvine, Law Firm, said: “We were pleased to sponsor this event for such a worthy cause. The hospice’s highly-trained staff provide essential care and support for people in the most difficult of situations, they are truly a credit to our town.”

Heather O’Driscoll, Managing Director of Waltons Clark Whitehill Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, said: “The hospice is an absolutely vital facility for Hartlepool and the surrounding communities. We had no hesitation in supporting it and would encourage others to do the same. Specialising in providing advice on financial matters and governance to charities and their trustees I know just how hard everyone has to work to keep charities running.”

Sandra Britten, Deputy Chief Executive of Hartlepool Hospice, said: “On behalf of all at the Hospice, I would like to say a huge thank you to Tilly Bailey and Irvine and Waltons Clark Whitehill for their sponsorship, Kate Sirs and the models from Mum’s the Word Choir, Next for the clothes, Santander for their matched funding, Kelly and her team at the Grand Hotel, all the guests, stall holders, prize and resource donors and everyone else who helped to make this event the success it was.”

“We had a lovely afternoon and it was a pleasure to work with and welcome so many supporters of our work. Everything raised from the day will be used to fund the specialist palliative care services that we provide free of charge to patients and families throughout Hartlepool and East Durham.”
