Staff at Hambleton District Council have handed over £3378 to 12 different charities by ‘dressing down’ and baking cakes!
Once a month they ‘Wear their jeans to work’ paying a £1 to do so and budding bakers top up the funds by selling their homemade cakes.
“Employees are asked to nominate charities to collect for,” said Dave Goodwin, Executive Director
“Some choose charities which are very close to their hearts and often not very well know such Myasthenia Gravis – a long term condition that affects voluntarily controlled muscles – an officer has a four year old granddaughter with the condition. Others chose local charities like Breathing Space and the Dales School and others prefer the fundraising days for events like Macmillan Coffee Morning or Children in Need.
“It’s a great way of fund raising and helping such worthwhile causes.”
Myasthenia Gravis, Brompton Junior football club, Dales School Hydrotherapy pool appeal, Dogs Trust, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Macmillan Coffee Moring, Children in Need, Asthma UK, Save the Children, Breathing Space, Childrens Heart Unit Fund and Mind have all benefitted in the last 12 months.
