Charles Clinkard invites children to be class ‘superhero’

Pupils invited to be the class superhero!

YOUNGSTERS from Newcastle primary schools have been challenged to win shoes for their entire class by entering a design contest run by family footwear retailer Charles Clinkard.

Pupils can use their imagination to come up with shoes fit for a superhero of their own making – with special features to enhance their wearer’s special powers.

The shoes could help the superhero run at the speed of light, jump 60 feet in the air or take giant strides in their fight against the villains.

Entrants should draw their special shoes and label any special features to help Charles Clinkard decide on a winner.

Then – with a swish of its cape – Charles Clinkard will provide new shoes for the winner and everyone in their class.

Managing director, Charles Clinkard, said: “We have run this competition for several years and the creative ideas the children come up with never cease to amaze us.

“We want to give schoolchildren in Newcastle the chance to be an actual superhero for a day when they tell their friends they have won the prize.

“Looking through the entries is one of our favourite activities and we think the teachers that kindly help us to roll out the competition enjoy it too.”

Teachers and/or parents can download the entry form here: https://www.charlesclinkard.co.uk/back-to-school-competition-i310.

Pupils need to come up with their idea, draw the shoe on the entry form and ask their teacher or parent to complete the details and post it back.

The winners will then be invited along to Charles Clinkard’s store at Newcastle along with their classmates, to pick out their new shoes.

Last year saw nine-year-old Entisar Adem win for her design of ‘footwear of the future’ with shoes that allowed the wearer to walk on water and teleport to any country simply by stamping their feet. Her creative and colourful design also included solar power to regulate temperature.

The family run firm has been providing children with shoes for generations, and many people will have fond memories of getting their feet measured at Charles Clinkard as they were growing up.

Since starting in the North East more than 90 years ago, the company has gone from strength to strength and is now a nationwide success.

The closing date for entries is July 1, 2019 and the adult whose details are on the entry form will be contacted by phone and email.
