Screen Shot 2016-01-19 at 10.53.24North Tyneside Council is inviting the public to take a look around one of its stylish retirement complexes.

After a multi-million pound makeover, residents have moved into Moorcroft, a state-of-the-art retirement complex in Annitsford.

It’s part of the council’s £300m North Tyneside Living project, which will see more than 920 modern, independent living homes created or refurbished at 26 sites across the borough, by 2017.

And later this month, on January 28 and 30, two open days are being held for others interested in living there.

Encouraging people to come along to the open day, Cllr John Harrison, cabinet member with responsibility for Housing, said: “We are very pleased with the North Tyneside Living project and all the feedback we have had has been fantastic.

“Moorcroft Court, like all the other complexes we’re developing, is contemporary and inviting – and it is proving a popular choice with people looking for retirement accommodation.

“The apartments are so different to traditional sheltered accommodation; they’re contemporary and stylish but also thoughtfully and sensitively adapted to make life easier for tenants and make sure they can live independently for longer.

“I’d really encourage people to attend one of the open events – our new team of friendly and helpful staff will be there to welcome the public, show them around and answer any questions they may have.”

Moorcroft includes 28 one-bedroom and four two-bedroom apartments as well as a therapy room/beauty salon, communal living space, a guest apartment where family and friends can stay, and there are organised activities and outings for those who wish to take part.

Weekly rent includes heating and water costs, building and garden maintenance, Wi-Fi, plus the services of a housing officer.

The open days take place on January 28, 11am to 7pm and January 30, 10am to 2pm.

If you’re unable to make one of the events, a show apartment is available to view at other times, by appointment.

The North Tyneside Living homes are available for those aged over 60. For more information, visit www.northtyneside.gov.uk or call 0345 2000 102.
