CUSTOMERS at a multi award-winning Newcastle bar can step into Christmas with the launch of its new menu.
The City Tavern at Northumberland Road is serving its festive fayre throughout December, with a choice of one, two and three course offers.
The seasonal spread features a host of classics, along with a range of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options for diners with special dietary requirements.
Starters include parsnip and apple soup topped with parsnip crisps, ham hock terrine with soused vegetables and mustard dressing and beetroot cured salmon with horseradish crème fraiche.
For the mains, diners can get traditional with locally reared free range roast turkey with all the trimmings, or choose from a selection of other dishes including Northumbrian lamb shank, pan-seared monkfish or squash, beetroot and puy lentil wellington.
Anyone who still has room for dessert can choose from Christmas pudding, panettone bread and butter pudding or stem ginger steamed pudding, while those without a sweet tooth can tuck into the locally sourced cheeseboard.
“We’ve launched our festive menu and now we are all ready for Christmas,” said David King, owner of City Tavern. “It’s always been one of our favourite times of the year, and once we start serving out traditional spread we know we are getting close to the big event.
“We’ve tried to keep things traditional but we appreciate that not everyone wants turkey, so we’ve worked hard to create some other dishes which will suit vegetarians, vegans, those on a gluten free diet and people who just fancy something else.
“At City Tavern we regularly change our menus to suit the seasons, and this one gives us the chance to enjoy some of those fantastic winter ingredients which we all love.”
The Christmas at City Tavern menu is being served daily throughout December, with two courses for £21.95 and three for £26.95.
