Christmas bin collection changes explained

MIDDLESBROUGH residents are being advised their bin collections will take place one day late during Christmas week.

Christmas Day 2017 falls on a Monday when no bins are collected in the town.

This means that those residents who have their bins collected on a Tuesday will have them collected a day later on Wednesday, December 27 owing to the Boxing Day bank holiday.

The knock-on effect will continue throughout the week with collections finishing on Saturday, December 30.

As New Year’s Day also falls on a Monday the collections will be back to normal that week.

Normal Collection Day Revised Collection Day
Tuesday 26th December 2017 Wednesday 27th December 2017
Wednesday 27th December 2017 Thursday 28th December 2017
Thursday 28th December 2017 Friday 29th December 2017
Friday 29th December 2017 Saturday 30th December 2017

Excess recycling can also be placed out for collection in clear plastic bags next to the blue-lidded recycling bin.

Christmas trees will also be collected for one week only from Tuesday, January 9 to Friday, January 12.
