Coast & Country staff, alongside a number of local volunteers, gathered at the recently renovated Oakley Walk Community Centre and travelled across Bankfields collecting and disposing of discarded rubbish and completing a general tidy up.
The Redcar-based housing provider teamed up with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council on the project in conjunction with the ‘Love it’ campaign.
The ‘Love it’ campaign a Council led initiative, invites residents, community groups and businesses across the borough to pledge to do one small thing that can make a significant difference to the local community.
Neil Johnson, Tenant Advisor at Coast & Country, said: “It was fantastic to see so many volunteers help us on the Community Litter Pick. It is certainly very rewarding to see the results of the hard work undertaken and our volunteers should feel really proud of their achievements. The Bankfields area looks much improved for its residents.
“We strongly support Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council’s ‘Love it’ campaign, and have shown that sometimes, just a small effort can make a huge difference, which we feel we have illustrated with the litter pick.
“I would like to thank everyone who volunteered, we really couldn’t have done it without them.”
Councillor Alec Brown, cabinet member for neighbourhoods at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said: “With initiatives like this, we can see that people are proud of where they live. We want to take this pride, create a buzz with residents, community groups and businesses to grow the number of people willing to take part and make the area an even better place.
“We are delighted with the litter pick that Coast & Country has hosted, and I would like to thank the staff and volunteers who took part. Activities such as these can make a huge difference to our community and hopefully this will inspire others to pledge their support to this campaign.”
