North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

East Durham College are looking for former Houghall students to take part in a very special event.

The Houghall campus in Durham, has recently undergone an exciting £12.75 million redevelopment project.

And to celebrate this the college will be hosting an afternoon tea at the campus on Friday 13th January.

Throughout the project the college have been in contact with a number of former staff members and students to piece together an impressive archive of photos and memorabilia and to get a background of life at the campus throughout its history.

And we would like to extend these connections and hope to find more students and staff who have worked at the campus, formerly named the County Durham School of Agriculture, Durham Agricultural College and Houghall College.

We would therefore like to invite any one with connections to the site to come and join us to help celebrate the opening.

We invite guests to arrive any time after 2pm to have a look round and then join current staff for afternoon tea in the refectory at 4pm.

To help us with planning and catering numbers, please could you RSVP to Mark.Reeve@eastdurham.ac.uk or by letter no later than Friday 6 th January.

Please could you also advise what years you started and left Houghall, so we can add that along with your name to badges we will provide on your arrival.

East Durham College principal Suzanne Duncan, is looking forward to the event to have the opportunity to celebrate Houghall’s history and its future.

Suzanne said: “This fantastic redevelopment has gone a great way to restoring Houghall to its former glory, and providing staff and students with a range of new facilities they can be proud of.

“The college will be celebrating its 80 th anniversary next year and it’s with great optimism that we can look forward to the next 80 years at Houghall.

“I hope you can join us and I look forward to meeting you as we mark this historic day.”
