A local building society is continuing its commitment to its members and the high street with the launch of an upgrade programme across its branch network.

Darlington Building Society has decided to overhaul its branches to give members a more modern, welcoming and efficient experience while still offering its full range of easily accessible services on the region’s high streets.

Director of Distribution Darren Ditchburn said: “The branch network is an integral part of us being a local building society and this upgrade programme allows us to enhance the in-branch experience for members wishing to discuss their financial needs including savings, mortgages and financial advice.”

“The team have always provided an extremely high level of service which is reflected in the recent award wins and consistently high customer satisfaction and net promoter scores, so this upgrade programme will ensure the branch experience is refreshed to match this.”

The building society’s Vice Chairman Bob Cuffe said: “The upgraded branches will offer improved privacy for members while also offering space for the community to get involved with activities.

“We’re committed to offering our members service in a way that is suitable to them, which we demonstrated with our longer head office opening times for out of hours mortgage appointments.

“We’ll also be offering an online service for members very soon, giving greater accessibility and convenience for members.”

Andrew Craddock, the Society’s newly-appointed chief executive, reopened the upgraded Guisborough branch on Monday November 26th.

He said: “I am delighted to join a Society who puts the members and community at the centre of all that it does and our branch refurbishment programme demonstrates our continued commitment to our local towns and the people using our services.”

The upgrade programme will continue at Barnard Castle and runs throughout 2019 with branches across the Tees Valley, North Yorkshire and County Durham being improved to match the excellent experience received across the society.
