CONFERENCE A MUST FOR CATASTROPHIC INJURY LAWYERS…

A ONE DAY conference which aims to help catastrophic injury lawyers find new ways to manage their business workload will be returning again this spring.

The annual EMG Solicitors’ Managing and Improving Your Catastrophic Injury Caseload is now in its fifth year and has once again gathered a range of top professionals to speak on a range of relevant topics.

The event – which is being held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, The Light in Leeds on 14 May – will bring together a number of experts who will host sessions covering everything from education for children with acquired brain injury to updates on rehabilitation.

The conference was set up by the Durham-based solicitors’ firm, which has a national reputation for its Court of Protection work, along with acting as trustees for a number of high value personal injury trusts.

Since its launch the conference has become an important event for those working in the field of catastrophic injuries wanting to hear from leaders in the field about new developments and best practice.

This year’s speakers including EMG Solicitors’ managing director Emma Gaudern and fellow director Jemma Morland, who are both nationally recognised for their expertise in Court of Protection work.

Other key speakers including William F Waldron QC of Exchange Chambers, a Bencher of Gray’s Inn and Chair of Northern Circuit Advocacy Training who has particular expertise in brain, spine and amputee cases.

Pankaj Madan, also of Exchange Chambers, who acts usually only in high value, life changing and catastrophic injury cases, will also address the attendees on ATE funding and top-up premiums.

Returning again to the conference is Professor Dominic Regan, a special adviser to the Association of Cost Lawyers, who will give an update on costs.

Attendees will also be able to choose from a range of breakout sessions led by occupational therapists from Neural Pathways, a case manager from rehabilitation experts Bush & Company and Dr Alison Lane from Durham University who will talk about visual field defects.

The event is accredited by APIL training and anyone attending can claim five hours of APIL CPD accreditation.

“The conference grows in popularity every year and we’re looking forward to once again bringing together a number of experts who will share their insight across a range of different subjects,” said Emma Gaudern.

“We are sure the event is going to be invaluable to anyone working in this field.”

Places at the conference are £85 plus VAT, which includes lunch and refreshments. Anyone wanting to book should email events@emgsolicitors.com.
