Newcastle Falcons have a third player on duty at the World Rugby U20s Championships in Manchester, with Brett Connon called into the Ireland squad over the weekend.
The academy back, who made appearances for the Falcons senior team in the Kings of the North Cup and for the club’s side in the Aviva A League, comes in for injured Munster academy player Bill Johnston, who has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
Connon’s inclusion sees him return to the Irish side for the first time since the RBS U20s 6 Nations championship in March, where he played in the wins over England and Italy.
He joins England back row forward Callum Chick and Scotland second row Andrew Davidson as club players on duty at the tournament, which takes place until Saturday June 25th.
Ireland’s next match in the competition takes place on Wednesday, when they face Georgia at the Manchester City Academy Stadium in a 17:30 kick off.
