Improvements have been carried out on bungalows in Hebburn to make them warmer for residents thanks to support from the areas local Community Area Forum.
In response to residents’ concerns, Council owned bungalows, in Wood Terrace, have undergone improvements to make them more energy efficient thanks to joint funding from Hebburn Community Area Forum and South Tyneside Homes.
The funding for the project has provided the bungalows with new insulation and cladding to deliver extra efficiency protection and improved guttering.
Councillor Jim Sewell, Chairman of the Hebburn Community Area Forum, said: “We were aware that residents in these bungalows felt that they were feeling the cold. We are delighted to have been able to respond to their concerns by installing energy efficient solutions to their homes.”
The work was carried out with help from Templetown Canopies, a local company based in South Shields.
Mr Kenneth Rutherford, who lives in Wood Terrace, said: “They have done a really good job putting on the new cladding and guttering. Everyone is really impressed with the work and we’re a lot warmer now thanks to the extra insulation. Now all of the bungalows have been done the new cladding helps to make them look nice and bright.”
