Darlington Business Celebrates a Healthy First Year with Expansion

Screen Shot 2015-06-03 at 12.07.54A DARLINGTON-based health and safety business is celebrating its first birthday by expanding into a new sector.

We do Health and Safety, the sister company of family-run We do HR, has launched a new drug and alcohol team and appointed expert Ronnie Bage to head it up.

Hartlepool born Mr Bage has over 25 years’ experience in the industry, having worked as drug and education officer at Darlington Borough Council and as a practitioner in treatment of users of Class A drugs.

The flourishing business, which recently acquired larger office space to accommodate future growth, has invested in Home Office approved drug and alcohol testing equipment. It will offer rehabilitation, policies, support and counselling to help employers minimise the impact of misuse in the workplace.

Speaking of his appointment, Mr Bage said: “I am extremely passionate about helping and educating those who have encountered problems in substance misuse.

“We do Health and Safety’s’ new service will help businesses comply with strict health and safety regulations and enable employees to continue in work after being rehabilitated.”

As a qualified teacher, Mr Bage also plans to work closely with local schools and universities in order to build awareness of the negative effects of drug and alcohol abuse.

We do Health and Safety has already secured a contract with Hartlepool College of Further Education to implement drug testing and develop its Personal, Social and Health Education programme for students.

Similarly, We do HR, which provides human resource services and operates internationally, is also looking to develop its team with a new HR officer.

Speaking about the expansion, Alasdair Ross, Managing Director of We do Health and Safety and We do HR said: “I’m so proud of the team and how far we’ve come. The future is really exciting for all of us as we hope to expand further and really lead the way in health and safety and human resources.”
