Bike Stop on Skinnergate has bucked the trend of declining highstreets with a record breaking year of increasing sales which are already up 35% on last year’s trading.

The surge in sales is a result of the increasing variety of bikes which is now available in the store including the eco-friendly Forme Peak Trail E-bikes. It is now an official Forme dealer and the social enterprise continues to strive towards a cleaner high street by encouraging the upselling / recycling of unwanted bikes.

Forme E-Bikes are a much cleaner alternative to cycling and also act as an aid for the elderly and individuals with disabilities who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to cycle.

Rob Archer, Bike Stop Retail Manager said: “I’m extremely proud to be contributing towards a cleaner Darlington by introducing a range of bicycles available in our store that suit everyone’s needs.”

“Already sales are up 35% year on year, with May being a record breaking month for us on sales.”

Bike Stop opened in November 2012 on Skinnergate as a social enterprise and it is owned by First Stop Darlington. The Specialist cycle shop takes donated and pre-loved vintage and modern day bicycles and upcycles / recycles them ready for their next owner.

The mechanics also provides a repair and service centre as well as hosts events for the local community such as organised bike rides, walks, maintenance sessions, Dr Bike events for all ages and abilities.

If you’re interested in testing out the new Forme E-Bike, call into the Bike Stop on Skinnergate to book and Rob and his team will be keen to assist you on any further information you may require.
