Hundreds of people are expected to attend the largest independent living exhibition in the North of England, held in the region later this month.
The annual Disability North Exhibition (DNEX) attracts visitors from across the whole of the North and Scotland, and is seen as a must-attend event for anyone who deals with disability in either their personal or professional lives.
DNEX 2017, held at Newcastle Racecourse on September 27 and 28, showcases a range of information, advice and equipment to people with disabilities, older adults, healthcare professionals and carers.
The free event, which offers a packed two-day programme of exhibitions, demonstrations and topical seminars, has built up a strong reputation over the years for its ability to showcase relevant products and provide expert advice on relevant issues.
DNEX, sponsored by Intu – owners of Eldon Square and the Metrocentre – and supported by organisations including law firm Sintons, will this year offer an evening programme for the first time, with a series of family-friendly events set to be announced.
Victoria Armstrong, chief executive of Disability North, the independent living charity for disabled and older people, said: “DNEX is a unique opportunity to showcase a range of products and equipment, alongside providing expert and relevant advice on important topics. We are proud to have created something that is now regarded as a ‘must-attend’ event for both individuals and professionals from across the whole of the North.
“Each year we listen to feedback and suggestions and adapt our plans accordingly. This year, we are hosting an evening programme for the first time for people who are unable to attend during the day. Through making it fun and family friendly, we hope that DNEX truly will offer something for everyone throughout the two day programme.”
DNEX is free to attend and will run on Wednesday 27th from 10am to 3pm, with the evening session from 6.30pm to 8pm. The Thursday session will be daytime only and will run from 10am to 4pm.
Free parking is available on site, and a free shuttle bus will operate both days from Four Lane Ends and Regent Centre Metro stations every 30 minutes, starting at 10am.
