Dominic Waldouck set for month’s trial at Newcastle Falcons

Newcastle_Falcons_logo.svgFormer England Saxons centre Dominic Waldouck is joining Newcastle Falcons on an initial month’s trial.

The 28-year-old has more than a century of Aviva Premiership appearances under his belt, the majority of those coming during a successful six-year spell with Wasps.

Subsequently playing for Northampton Saints and London Irish, Waldouck will join the Falcons after spending the summer playing for Ohio in America’s inaugural Pro Rugby competition.

Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards said: “Dom is going to come on trial with us for a month to see how he goes.

“He is playing over in America at the moment in their new tournament, he comes to us in late July and will be with us throughout August.

“Dom has been on the Aviva Premiership circuit for a while, six or so years ago he was going to be the next big thing but a couple of injuries have hampered his progression. He has now played two or three seasons without significant injury and seems to be back into the groove, so it could end up being an opportunity which suits both parties.”

Newcastle Falcons face three first-team games during pre-season, tackling Nottingham at Darlington Mowden Park on Saturday August 6 (3pm), hosting Doncaster Knights at Kingston Park on Saturday August 13 (3pm) and meeting Edinburgh at BT Murrayfield on Friday August 26 (7.30pm). The Falcons’ Development team, meanwhile, tackles Scottish Premiership side Gala RFC in Galashiels on Friday August 19 (7.30pm).
