Donte Nicholas back for second spell at Plymouth

Donte Nicholas will return to Plymouth Raiders for the 2018-19 season after a year away in Germany.

The American guard played at Noma Iserlohn Kangaroos in the German Pro-B league last season finishing with an average of 17.6 points a game. The German side finished fourth in the
league with Nicholas also adding 8.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.3 steals per game.

“I’m excited to get back to Plymouth and make some noise in the league again,” he said.

“One thing I know for sure, is the fans will be expecting the club to be successful this year and I believe the new ownership and coaching staff will be as well. Knowing that made my decision to come back that much easier.

“I can’t wait to get to work with coach James and all the new guys he brought in and start chasing some silverware.”

Nicholas averaged 15.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists in his first spell in Plymouth having also picked up the December BBL Player of the Month award.

Coach James added: “It’s great to see Donte back with us for his second spell at the Raiders.

“We have put together a young hungry team and it was important to have some proven experience into the mix.

“Donte is coming in off the back of a very good season playing in Germany and was one of the top players in the BBL last time he was here, so he gives us that experience we were looking for.

“Donte is a great signing and with his past experiences I expect him to help gel this team together very quickly. We know he is a real talented player and a crowd pleaser, capable of scoring at will and a tough all-round competitor. I’m delighted to have Donte back on the team.”

Nicholas’ addition takes Coach James’ roster to eight alongside, Denzal Ubiaro, Josh Wilcher, Shawn Shelton, Zak Wells, Javis Howard, Joonas Järveläinen and Declan Soukup.
