Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Double award success follows great growth at roofing and home improvements specialist

Tyneside Home Improvements is celebrating being named ‘Best Home Improvements’ company for 2018 in Tyne and Wear at the recent UK Enterprise Awards.

The accolade, which honours performance over the past year, is judged on the commitment to innovation and working methods shown by those shortlisted. The win follows on the back of the Jarrow-based business also retaining its title for SupaLite ‘Top UK Installer of the Year’ for an impressive sixth successive year.

Clinching the award is all part of a successful 2018 for the innovative home improvement company, with sales up 15% on the previous year and staff growing rapidly. Having started just over a decade ago with a team of two, the company now employs 26 people across the North East and continues to invest in training at the highest level.

Specialising in extensions such as conservatories and orangeries, garage conversions and roofing -The busy team have also recently extended their product lines, adding contemporary and stylish verandas to the growing list of improvements customers can make to their homes.

Speaking about the award win, Tyneside Home Improvements Sales and Marketing Manager, Carl Birkenshaw, said: “We are delighted to have received this award, along with retaining our SupaLite title for a sixth year. It is a great testament to the hard work our team put in every day.

“Delivering the best to our customers, with minimum fuss, is our priority, and the dedication is paying off. with consistent year on year growth, despite what continues to be a challenging sector. Market trends have shown people are moving home less frequently than in previous years, half as much as they did pre-credit crunch, so people are looking for alternatives to maximise the space they have.

“We are noticing an increase in enquiries from people looking to update their conservatory roofs, traditionally a very underused space in the home. Our award-winning SupaLite roof option offers people the chance to open up this space for a variety of purposes, thanks to the ability to regulate the temperature, ensuring warm winters and cool summers – particularly important at this time of year.”

The remainder of the year looks set to be a busy time for the company, who are currently mapping out extension plans and moving to new premises to keep up with growing demand.

Speaking about Tyneside Home Improvement’s win at the UK Enterprise Awards, and the success of this year’s programme, Awards Coordinator, Jessie Wilson, commented: “UK based enterprises are renowned for their diversity and ability to progress through tough times.

“As we turn our backs on the recession it is now more important than ever to seek out hard working, innovative and diverse business owners and offer them a platform to further succeed, and as such it is my pleasure to announce the publication of this year’s awards.”
