Award winning comedian and actor Omid Djalili will take to the stage at Durham’s Gala Theatre for one night only, on Friday 14 October, as part of a 108-date UK tour of his brand new show Schmuck For A Night.

Well-known for his stand-up comedy, Djalili also has a string of Hollywood movie credits to his name, including Golden Globe and Oscar nominated Shaun the Sheep Movie, Mr Nice, Gladiator, Sex And The City 2, The Mummy and The Infidel. And his theatre performances aren’t limited to comedy shows, Djalili has also performed in musicals on the West End stage and has just been cast in Disney’s new live-action production of The Nutcracker, which he will be filming alongside the tour.

Also a regular face on TV, he has appeared on UK and US shows, including the BBC Four series Going Forward with Jo Brand, as well as Dickensian for BBC1 and Stan Lee’s Lucky Man for SKY1.

A talented performer, Djalili is just as comfortable behind the camera as in front of it, having executively produced the acclaimed documentary We Are Many, about the global anti-war demonstrations that took place in 800 cities on February 15th 2003, to date the largest mobilisation of human beings in the history of the earth.

This August, Djalili produced an Edinburgh Fringe show called Iraq Out & Loud, which saw almost 1500 comedians and members of the public read the entirety of the Chilcot Report for 24 hours a day, over 12 days. This memorable production was awarded the prestigious Panel Prize at Edinburgh Comedy Awards, and later TV Bomb’s Zeitgeist Award.

Tickets to see this hilarious household name, are priced at £24 and are available at the Gala Theatre Box Office on 03000 266 600, by visiting the venue in person or booking online at www.galadurham.co.uk
