Eggcellent Easter gifts for Sunderland families

Screen Shot 2016-03-24 at 15.16.23A team of customer service workers have generously pooled their efforts to donate a collection of Easter eggs to Sunderland families.

Customer service staff from EDF Energy at Doxford International Business Park, have been collecting the chocolate treats to donate vulnerable families supported by Sunderland City Council’s Child and Family Support Services, ahead of Easter.

Nicola Tennet, team manager for EDF Energy, said: “We all wanted to make a small gesture to local families who usually wouldn’t normally receive Easter Eggs because of their circumstances.

“As always, everyone came together to show their support for the Sunderland community and there are dozens of eggs which I am sure will be appreciated and enjoyed.

“There is always a great sense of teamwork and enthusiasm at EDF Energy when it comes to supporting local charities and organisations, we often do fundraisers and collections and there is always a great response.”

Sunderland City Council’s Family Support Services provide assistance to families in the area including parental support, youth support and adult and young carer support. Support is provided to families to access both targeted and universal services in respect of housing and financial issues, education, physical and mental health issues as well as helping families to identify and access support within their own family network.

EDF Energy supports numerous charities and community projects across the region. Staff at the customer services centre often donate clothes, toys and games to charities which support vulnerable families at Easter and Christmas time.
