Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Engineering awards open in the North East

Businesses from across the North East have been invited to showcase their work in the annual Institution of Civil Engineers’ (ICE) Robert Stephenson Awards.

The awards celebrate excellence in Civil Engineering projects which are designed or constructed in the region, and are open to those which have been completed in the past two years. The winners will be announced at the Institution of Civil Engineers’ North East Annual Dinner at the Newcastle Marriott Hotel in April 2017.

The awards are divided into three categories; projects with a total cost in excess of £4 million compete for the Large Award, those between £500,000 and £4 million can apply for the Medium Award, and those costing £500,000 or less are eligible for the Small Award.

In 2016 the Medium Award was won by the Durham Vinovium Shaft Works project and the Large Award went to the Crag End Landslip Stabilisation, in Rothbury.

ICE Regional Director Penny Marshall said: “Last year’s entries for our North East Awards were of an exceptional standard and we expect no less this year. It is important to recognise the outstanding civil engineering projects delivered across the North East and the teams behind them, to encourage innovation and excellence in our industry.”

Full details of the awards and an entry pack can be obtained from. https://www.ice.org.uk/near-you/uk/north-east/awards/robert-stephenson-awards. The closing date for entries is Friday 27th January 2017 and companies should register their interest by December 16th.
