Your hair grows over your ears a little. Annoying, but you can probably still trim it. The back of your neck is hairy, that’s not quite the skin-fade you had six weeks ago. Your other half is nagging you. It’s time, you need a haircut!
With none of us being able to get a decent haircut so far this year, we are all too familiar with that feeling right now! But fear not – a fresh and exciting new business is coming to the North East with the aim to perfect your barber experience.
‘HEAD QUARTERS Barbers & Beverages’ opens its doors in three new locations on 12th April, 8am until 8pm, 7 days a week. Fit-outs are well underway in Bishop Auckland, Darlington and Middlesbrough stores; with interiors designed to make every visit memorable – they each feature leather Chesterfield sofas, traditional personalised barber chairs and a self-serve bar where you can pull yourself a chilled beer – a traditional barbers with a modern twist.
“We looked at all the frustrations customers face when going to the barbers, and how we could make Head Quarters different. Our mission is to bring one of the oldest professions into the 21st Century, by introducing new technology across the board from booking systems to the shop floor.” said Owner Mike Racz.
“We have booking available via our app, with live waiting times which can be seen as you drive past – so you will always know when the next barber is free – along with a freshly pulled beer or a coffee on arrival. We want customers to feel at home – it’s our living room and you are always welcome”.
Taking the experience one step further, the Head Quarters team has also created a uniquely formulated HQ styling product range, with an exquisite signature scent, which will be used by their barbers and also available to purchase in-store and online.
HQ Managing Director, Richard Bland, a former director and shareholder of the well-known SAKS Franchise chain, has worked in the hairdressing industry for over 35 years, and joined the Head Quarters team at the very beginning, to help bring this new venture to life.
“When I heard about this new business idea, I knew I had to be part of it. We’ve had a lot of fun – mixed with a lot of hard work – to perfect what we want to be an exciting change to the way barbers are run.
“Hairdressing has been hit really hard by Covid” Stockton-born Richard explained. “We are thrilled to be able to offer 30 jobs across our first three salons. We will also be offering conversion courses for hairdressers wishing to work for HQ – working for us will be a career, not just a job.”
Appointments are now available to book.
All Head Quarters stores will be open 8am until 8pm, 7 days a week. Booking available online or via the app. Free drink upon arrival.
