Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Expansion Plans for North East Energy Consultancy

CaptureOne of the North East’s leading independent commercial energy consultancies has moved to new, larger premises to facilitate its ambitious growth plans and following a series of major contract wins.

Established only three years ago, Green Energy Consulting’s new office is located in the heart of Gateshead, and sees the team take residence in possibly one of Gateshead’s most iconic buildings. The office is also only a short walk from the company’s first base – and which it is also retaining – under the archway of the Tyne Bridge.

Providing a sustainable green energy supply – without the added cost – to SMEs, large corporates and multi sites across the UK, the company last year reported a turnover of half a million and anticipates this to more than double to 1.2 million in the coming year.

Following this phenomenal growth – including increasing its workforce from two staff members to 29 and securing major contracts with the likes of William Hill, Christian Dior, AOL, The Church of England and the Samaritans – the move into new premises co. directors believe will enable sustainable growth for the local business.

Speaking about the company’s success, Peter McGirr, director and co-founder said: “We are delighted to be moving into larger premises and, importantly keeping our roots firmly based in the North East. We are extremely proud of the company’s origins and what we have achieved in such a short space of time and are very much committed to expanding our business and keeping it firmly in the North East”.”

The new office – comprising 8700 square feet – supports the company’s ambitious plans to double staff numbers by the summer.

And the business is firmly committed to working closely with local colleges and universities including xx and xx to provide training and development programmes that place young talent into roles within the company that offer real progression.

Peter added: “We have a strong CSR ethos at Green Energy Consulting and we firmly believe in investing heavily in young people to offer them sustainable career pathways that lead to fulfilling and rewarding careers.”

And this has been the case for Theodore Clark – a Northumbria University graduate – who joined the business in 2014 and has successfully worked his way up to become the company’s Operation Manager.

“The training and development programme at Green Energy Consulting provided a great opportunity to develop a career in a very prominent industry. I had no experience in this type of work, however the company directors recognised my passion to succeed in industry, initially taking me on as a Procurement Consultant. Through solid training and development I have been able to progress extremely quickly which has led to me securing the role of Operations Manager at the company where I continue to learn and progress on a daily basis.”

The company has further plans to turn its original premises into an Eco Hub that will house the UK’s latest renewable technologies including solar panels, wind turbines and biomass boilers. Interested parties, clients and partners will be able to access the Eco Hub and experience first-hand the range of new and emerging technologies that are helping to transform the UK’s energy consumption. The firm has plans to develop the Eco Hub into an iconic educational hot spot for businesses and the community to use also.

Green Energy Consulting work with clients on all energy issues delivering a full end to end service from procurement through to implementing energy management and consumption reduction strategies. The company prides itself on securing the most competitive contracts with energy suppliers across the UK.
