North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

MIPIM delegates will be teleported to one of the top 10 fastest growing UK cities from the 14 – 17 March 2017.

Invest Newcastle, a service delivered by NewcastleGateshead Initiative on behalf of Newcastle to attract and secure new investment and jobs for the city, is returning to MIPIM Cannes, and will present the city’s investment and development opportunities through a virtual reality experience.

Delegates will be plunged into an immersive experience where they can walk around and explore new and upcoming development opportunities in the city including Newcastle Science Central, Stephenson Quarter and North Shore.

The experience will enable MIPIM delegates to explore 360 views of development sites, where they can pick up 3D models and see inside the buildings.

The virtual reality experience will be the centre piece to the Invest Newcastle events programme which will cover topics from artificial intelligence, to cultural regeneration and industry insights. For the full events programme visit www.newcastleatmipim.co.uk/events.

Catherine Walker, Inward Investment Director at Invest Newcastle, said: “We have an ambitious vision for the future to see Newcastle become a leading European city. Newcastle is home to the fastest growing tech sector in England and 2016 saw active demand for over 400,000 sq ft. of Grade A office space. Our retail sector has been heavily redeveloped over the past ten years with more plans set to come into fruition in the coming years – providing a wide range of opportunities for investors, developers and corporate occupiers.

“Our virtual reality experience will give delegates an immersive look into the city allowing them to navigate the city and see the opportunities we have available. We look forward to welcoming all MIPIM delegates to our virtual Newcastle.”

Pat Ritchie, Chief Executive of Newcastle City Council said: “Confidence is building momentum in Newcastle and the market buoyant, with many investors looking to Newcastle and the regions outside of London for new opportunities and innovative partnership solutions.

“The recent £65 million deal with Legal & General on Newcastle Science Central and significant continued growth in the Stephenson Quarter are indicators of this confidence, and that Newcastle can deliver strong returns.

“We are open and willing to do business, and our approach demonstrates the strong working partnership we have with the private sector to deliver viable solutions, providing benefits for business and securing long-term economic growth and jobs for the future.”
