Falcons to host biggest Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup

Newcastle_Falcons_logo.svgThe Falcons Community Foundation, the charitable arm of Aviva Premiership side Newcastle Falcons, will host the largest ever Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup on February 21st after reaching the maximum capacity of 70 teams a full three months ahead of the event.

One of the Foundation’s biggest pre match activities, the festival draws teams from across the North East and further afield to what is recognised as the best iteration of the junior rugby competition throughout the league.

A nationwide tournament for under 11 and under 12 teams, the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup is a long running grassroots rugby tournament ran by Premiership Rugby in conjunction with all twelve Premiership Rugby clubs and supported by Land Rover.

Providing young rugby players with the chance to enjoy a series of matches over the day, the festival also gives them a chance to vie for the prize of a visit to HQ for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final at Twickenham.

Over the course of seven seasons, The Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup has provided youngsters the chance to realise their rugby dreams, with Newcastle Falcons and England Under-20s Back Row Callum Chick a graduate of the festival.

Foundation Programmes Co-ordinator Emily O Connor said: “The Land Rover Cup is our biggest festival of the season and attracts team’s from across the country, highlighting the regard our festival is held in.

“Match day festivals for grassroots clubs are a massive part of the match day at Kingston Park and we still have a number of festivals to run. All participants also get the opportunity to watch that day’s first team match allowing for a full day of rugby for these players.”
