Family firm proves to be number 1

CaptureA FAMILY Vauxhall dealer is in pole position after scooping a brace of industry honours for outselling all other car manufacturers in 2015.

Double award winning car dealership Sherwoods, one of the longest standing in the UK, picked up the Number 1 Area Awards for both new car and van sales across South Durham and North Yorkshire.

Sherwoods, the largest family run Vauxhall retailers in the North-East, with dealerships in Darlington, Northallerton and Stockton-on-Tees, sold more than 900 new cars and commercial vehicles to customers during the 12 month period out-performing current UK market leader Ford in the area.

Sherwoods general manager Simon MacConachie said: “We previously won the Number 1 Award for new car sales in 2013 but this is the first time that we have won both awards.

“I am especially proud of our van sales, as Ford have always been market leaders for commercial vehicles by some considerable margin. It is testament to the strength of Vauxhall’s vehicle range, the hard work and dedication of our sales team, especially Martin Allen and our growing customer base of local businesses, that we have achieved the double this year.

“Sherwoods prides itself on offering great value and as a family firm we know how important it is to other businesses to provide the best possible level of customer service that we can. Being Number 1 is a fantastic achievement but we can’t become complacent and we will always continue to look at ways of moving forward.”

The awards were presented by Alan King, Vauxhall Motors sales district manager, at the company’s flagship site on Chesnut Road, Darlington.

“I have been coming here since 1988 and in that time the entire Sherwoods team has always bought into the Vauxhall brand as much as I have,” said Mr King.

“The success of the business lies with the people who work here; they have a fantastic hard working, well trained team offering excellent customer satisfaction.

“They are consistent, dedicated and deliver the whole package and thoroughly deserve this recognition.”

Group general sales manager Chris Shutt added: “This is a massive pat on the back to all of our sales team.

“They have put in an awful lot of hard work and I am extremely proud of what they have achieved.”
