When General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaces the Data Protection Act 1998 on 25th May 2018, the impact it will have on all UK businesses large and small will be significant.
Sage Partner Blue Logic is hosting a half day event on the effects of the GDPR for those working in the finance sector to ensure that compliance will be met.
As cloud computing software stores and processes EU citizen data, the seminar will educate visitors on how to adhere and avoid the hefty fines that data breaches will incur.
Taking place on Wednesday 18th October at Sage’s offices in North Park, the Sage Technology Forum includes guest panellist, Ross Smith, director of policy at the North East England Chamber of Commerce.
Smith explained: “GDPR will be in full effect next May and finance professionals must avoid burying their heads in the sand. How we handle information digitally within an organisation is changing to give customers more say and to make businesses more accountable.
“Many activities that businesses have taken for granted in recent years will be covered by GDPR and we’re advising organisations to understand and act on the changes well in advance.
“With the rise of cloud technology, finance departments are particularly affected and must assess the security measures their external service provider stipulates to ensure they are adequate.”
As well as discussing the effects of GDPR within the finance sector, Blue Logic will also be introducing Microsoft 365 and how this integrates with Sage products to give businesses the appropriate protection without stunting creativity and collaboration.
